Too bad because the price on this wasn’t bad but it is operating on old tech.

Definitely worth the price and setting up Time Machine on an external drive was simple.

This equipment is definitely a major value add at at a reasonable/competitive price.

That said,over all, a great stand alone router for your house, good coverage, transmit power.

Setup is easy, and with all the customizable features you have your wi-fi and home network the way you want it.

The setup was braindead easy with an app you launch and set everything up

so you get app that sucks

Tether app is also easy to use, pretty straight forward.

Set up was very easy using the cell phone tether app free from the Play Store

Router works great, love the Tether APP, makes everything much simpler

This was very easy to set up with the app on my iPhone and the range is better than the router it replaced which was a few years old.

So it was not working as quick as

So the nail in the coffin was the tech support, or lack of support

I've had nothing but issues with this router and their tech support is worthless.

No stars for Tech Support because I have not needed it.

Maybe the router with a good tech support is what they advertise

Their tech support was extremely unhelpful, acted like I was a moron for trying to port forward on those ports anyway

Multiple calls to customer support and following their suggestions did not help.

I am very unhappy with the TP-link company especially the customer support portion of my experience

Has never worked well, customer support is terrible

Talk to customer support who was completely unhelpful because all they wanted me to do was the simple troubleshooting

So, rechat with customer support after already being on the chat for an hour.

After providing all that, i received a response asking for the link speeds of the PC network card while the router is in the degraded internet speed and they also provided a beta firmware that disables the "HomeCare" features that is reported to be the cause.

The signal coverage is good and speed is a few times faster than the one from Optimum.

I knew then that the slow speeds on my wireless devices was due to the router and not the internet itself

This router was suppose to have a really good WiFi signal as well as the speed to do whatever I might need

I could go into long technical breakdown, but at this point it's safe to say that this ia an excellent home wifi router.

All these issues were via Ethernet, I didn't bother to verify if the WIFI had the same issues since I already wasted so much time on this router.

A few times the wifi would go out, but the hard wired ethernet ports worked fine

I purchased this AC1900 router because our old Netgear N750 router kept dropping the 2.4ghz channel multiple times daily, and when you have a house with a lot of smart features that only run on the 2.4ghz (including MULTIPLE Ring products), it makes for a frustrating time.

After 3 months the signal declined to less than half 29/46 the original wi-fi speed 102/96

I'm not sure which is worse...the router that worked only for about 3 months before breaking, or to link's return policy wherein you have to PAY for the return yourself and all they do is "repair" the same unit and send it back

Decided to contact tech support in chat after seeing a firmware beta that could remedy this... 3 chats and their customer service is terrible

Never got over 100mb even hard wired directly to the router

Naturally, the Shield does fine when wired, as it has a Gigabit connection

Hard wired using an Ethernet cable through the router does achieve the desired ~900+Mbps speeds but just buy a Switch if you are going to be using an Ethernet cable and not the WiFi signal

Hard wired speeds dropped by over half from the old router as well

I was looking at the Eero just to have the the option to expand if needed but this router covers the dead spot in my house so again, its worth every penny.

The signal was strong enough for a 2,000 SF 2 story house and the one dead spot we had before was gone.

Was fighting intermittent speed and connection issues with an Asus Wireless-N150

this was supposed to be the best one on the market at the time, it isn't, all kings of connection issues, would not stay connected to devices, kept dropping off, tech support was non existent, the unit was discontinued (apparently because of defects) and replaced with a newer model number, has a 2 year warranty however tech support wanted to replace it with the exact same model that was refurbished because it hadn't worked and they refused to upgrade it to the newer design even though I offered to pay the difference because their policy is that they replace junk devices with other junk devices even though they are aware of it discontinued the one, I highly recommend not buying this unit
